The American Heart Association has turned the Bee Gees into lifesavers. One of the most important cardiology associations worldwide is promoting a new cardiopulmonary resuscitation technique (hands-only, without mouth-to-mouth respiration) . The instructions are the usual ones: if you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 911 and, while waiting for medical assistance, try to perform hands-only CPR.

People with Type 2 Diabetes have always been told to have smaller and more frequent meals throughout the day rather than concentrate all daily calories in two main meals. However, this might not be the best practice.
Today is World Pulmonary Hypertension Day, a little-known vascular disease which is also difficult to identify. Untreated pulmonary hypertension can bring to severe heart failure.
Breathlessness is one of pulmonary hypertension’s main symptoms and is also the concept inspiring the international awarness campaign slogan: “Get breathless for PH”. The idea is to organize sport events and activities to drive those who do not suffer from PH “out of breath”, thus experience the condition which fills the daily lives of people with this heart and lung disease.
An active way to raise awareness on a rare disease whose diagnosis in often delayed, reducing the chances for successful treatment.
Find out which PH awareness events are on around the world by clicking on the map.
October 29th is World Stoke Day, an event dedicated to a condition that involves us all: every 6 seconds 1 person around the world has a stroke.
Stoke is also the second cause of death for people over 60.
Prevention is our most powerful weapon, but it only comes with awareness and information.
Our project You’ve got heartmail, winner of the 1 Mission 1 Million 2011 campaign, aims at helping prevent atrial fibrillation-related stroke.
With 200 thousand multilanguage booklets, we have already reached four Countries (Italy, Spain, Germany and Russia), giving many people the chance to get to know the risks of stoke.
Help us spread the word further: watch the video and encourage others to do so.
Be our partner in preventing stroke through information!
Ercules will be a first-timer this year at the EUROPACE, the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) Congress. From 23rd to 25th June our publishing company will be in Athens to show our Cardiovascular Series, with titles ranging from prevention to various surgical procedures.
Healthy ageing greatly depends on the degree of adherence to therapy of eledery patients. Forgetting to take medications prescribed or failing to follow your treatment plan correctly often happens when growing old. In most cases, it is just a matter of poor memory. Sometimes, however, the reasons behind forgetfulness are more complex.
The EU member States have joined in a partnership to study the adherence to therapy in old age in order to evalute the usefulness of a common approach to this topic. Among the principal aspects considered in their analysis are: the elderly patient’s decision making ability, the information received by the patients alond with their prescriptions and the varying levels of therapy adherence depending on the illness.
